Lodi has some of California’s best climate for producing wine grapes. The Mokelumne River’s sandy loam soil along with the Delta’s cool breezes provide the perfect and unique environment for growing wine grapes. McCay Cellars produces small case lots, typically less than four hundred cases per lot. McCay Cellars is a small boutique family owned winery that takes great pride in producing California’s best award winning wines. Michael McCay, owner/winemaker simply states his goal, “to make wine with a sense of presence that expresses the character and trueness of the vineyard”. Michael and his family have farmed in Lodi for 25 years. He came to Lodi in the early 1980s, started making wine in 1994, and launched the McCay Cellars label in 2007.
