Estate Crush / Owners

HOW HAS THE LODI WINE REGION CHANGED OVER THE YEARS OR SINCE YOU’VE BEEN HERE?
Ali: The Lodi wine region has exploded since my family first moved to the region. In fact, it's even grown tremendously since we opened Estate Crush in 2009. As we were evaluating the opportunity for the business we realized that the Lodi wine region had seen 900% growth in the years leading up to 2009. It seemed like the right time to invest in a custom crush facility. Now, there are so many more wineries and tasting rooms than when we started. It's impressive to see the growth. Bob: There has been exponential growth and recognition since I moved here in 2007.

WHAT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT ASPECT OF YOUR JOB?
Ali: The most difficult aspect of my job is keeping up with all the moving parts of running a small business – from HR to accounting to marketing to production and all the things in between. Bob: Lately, it has been finding skilled labor and dealing with supply chain issues.

WHAT’S THE ONE THING YOU’D LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT LODI?
Ali: While Lodi has grown in recent years, it still has that small community feel – especially within the wine industry. Bob: The people – they are amazing and grounded.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL SPOT OR SPOTS IN LODI?
Ali: Our backyard; or our friend’s yards. Bob: Pietros!

WHAT CHORE DO YOU ABSOLUTELY HATE DOING?
Ali: Washing the windows. Bob: Edging and trimming the lawn.
