2014 Michael Klouda Wines Broken Vine Zinfandel
Broken Vine Zinfandel is the name Michael Klouda came up with after the fact that in his first year of harvest, he took a turn too tight with the tractor and kind of ran over one of Bob Shulenburg’s vines. Not the best way to start a vineyard career. His goal with this wine was to stay true to the vineyard which has a “no-till cover crop” that smells amazing, old vines with a tiny bunch and berry size and a grower who is out in his vineyard everyday. Bob Schulenburg’s vineyards are located in the heart of Lodi, just a few miles west of town and grow in the typical sandy Loam soils Lodi is known for. Fortunately, the vine survived and Mike has not hit one since!
